“I am grateful to represent each of these women and thank them for the many ways they are making Sanford a wonderful place to live – including today’s contribution.” “Sanford is known for having a generous community that takes care of each other, as evidenced by today’s contribution,” she said. Mayor Rebecca Wyhof Salmon was present for the donation. “We love our city and we know that everything is better when we work together,” said White when making the donation. The donors – Pamela Adkins, Sophia Blount, Sadé Byrd, Maria McLean, LaCrecia Reives, Hope White, and Elonda Womble – are involved in many organizations and programs, including Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Sanford 101, and the Let’s Do It Together Foundation. The program is administered by Johnston-Lee-Harnett Community Action, a private, non-profit agency that helps families with housing, crisis intervention, utility bill assistance, and other services. Sanford Cares provides temporary assistance to help Lee County residents pay their water and sewer bills. Members of the Sanford community have come together to make a monetary contribution to the Sanford Community Assistance & Relief Emergency Support (Cares) program.
